veneers

This board is very similar to the last board i made and posted on this blog, but instead this version is symmetrical. This board was also a huge step forward for me as i learned how to cut and work with veneers. The bottom is a Purpleheart and Basswood veneer i cut and laminated with the rest of the layup. i then experimented with a new kind of finish. I used a few coats of resin and some polish to get a nice shine to the board. It isnt perfect, but its a few steps in the right direction towards making beautiful finishes.

Back again

its been a while since ive posted here, but i havent been able to build for a while, but i'm back at it. Here is my latest build.
I'm really excited about this board, it has a little bit different construction than my last boards, and thats one of the main reasons i like it. Its baltic birch with a V-lam poplar core.

38inches long
9 1/2 inches wide in front, straight taper to 9 inches wide in the back.
1/2 inch radial/tub concave
28 1/2 inches wheelbase

Oh yeah, i've decided to start building my boards under the name emotive.
